Can Saltikva cause an infection, be shed, or spread to other people?

Saltikva is a synthetically engineered live biopharmaceutical designed for safety. It has been studied in a Phase 1 and a Phase 2 clinical study and in extensive preclinical studies in rodents and large animals. No Saltikva-related infection has been reported: in the Phase 1 and Phase 2 studies, no shedding in stool was reported, blood and stool tests were negative where done, and no late Salmonella infection was found in follow-up. Transmission to other people has not been reported or observed. The strain has been passaged thousands of times without becoming pathogenic. No serious adverse event has been attributed to Saltikva® to date.
